Relatively cheap

Thank you Juanzees for introducing us to Zip sushi in the arts district of Downtown LA. Park there after 4pm and its free.

The sushi deal:
First, you have to sit at the bar (double check w/ the hostess)
$19.99 gets you all-you-can-eat sushi
$14.99 gets you the same but they require you to buy a beer.
The catch: you have an hour to eat and no left-overs so SLOW DOWN!

But buying a beer makes it about the same price but with alcohol. As for the sushi, they don't skimp out. They allow you to order three things at one time, and when that's gone, you order three more.

This picture was taken after the sushi chef looked bored and wanted a challenge. So my boyfriend asks if he can make a fried california roll with no avocado. Apparently, there's a name for that. And please note the size of this thing. We thought it would only be 4 pieces! So eat at home for a week and then take advantage of zip.

Tuesday Fish Tacos

Hello Rubios! It used to be $1 fish tacos, now it's $1.25. Still not bad for a corn or flour tortilla with a crispy fish fillet and their secret white sauce. Don't forget the amazing smokey flavor of the chipotle sauce.

Add a corona to 2 fish tacos and you've got a pretty good lunch for $6.00.

If you don't think two tacos will fill you up, add some chips and black beans and you still won't hit the $9 mark. So, have a beer, boost up your omega 3's, and sit outside on the patio while people admire you from the treadmill across the way at LAfitness.

Affordable ice cream, fancy dip

When was the last time you thought of going to Foster's freeze? Yes, it's been around for a long time. Yes, it looks run down, dirty, and closed. When you think of ice cream, you probably think of cold stone, baskin robbins, 21 choices, and for those old enough, thrifty's ice cream, or even the occasional frozen yogurt place.

But stop to think about what a beauty a single cone of half vanilla half chocolate ice cream dipped in chocolate that instantly freezes creating a thin shell of more chocolate.

The vanilla ice cream tastes like the vanilla syrup sold by those men pushing carts of shaved ice. (raspado) And the chocolate isn't fancy, just the kind you remember as a kid who liked simplicity.

It wasn't until I travelled to upstate new york on a humid day by lake ontario did I realize I can't order an ice cream dipped in chocolate! So take advantage of the west coast phenomenon. Especially on $1 Wednesdays

Bonus:(The foster's freeze on Fletcher near silverlake) You can always take a picture from across the street and pretend you're Marsellus Wallace from pulp fiction, and take a shot at Bruce Willis!
